The 2026 Research Dissemination Award: Anton Pottegård
The 2026 Research Dissemination Award goes to Professor Anton Pottegård at the Department of Public Health.
Over the past decade, Anton Pottegård has been deeply interested in taking research beyond the confines of academic journals and into the wider society. For Anton, dissemination is not merely an add-on to research – it is an integral, essential part of his work as a researcher.
Through his strong social media presence on LinkedIn and Instagram, Anton has communicated on topics ranging from weight-loss drugs and the opioid epidemic to the role of gender in treatment, always with a focus on facts and relevance. What he shares is not just information, but insight, inspiration and engagement with society.
His impact extends far beyond academia. He has managed to put important topics on the political agenda – including an open letter on LinkedIn about medicine shortages, which had a direct impact on political work, and the debate on the use of register data, which led to a ministerial reaction and coverage on the front page of Politiken. Not to mention the impact of his work on Ozempic, Wegovy and the TBE scares that grip the country every year, work that has landed him on numerous front pages and news programmes.
Anton Pottegård teaches and inspires colleagues and communicators all over the country, and his efforts have set new standards for how we disseminate research in Denmark. He is a shining example of how academic depth and societal engagement can go hand in hand.
