The overarching theme of the conference is to combine perspectives from studies of the rule of law and welfare in relation to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference focuses on SDG16 (peace, justice and strong institutions) as a facilitator for the achievement of several other SDGs, including SDG1 (no poverty), SDG3 (good health and well-being), SDG5 (gender equality), SDG8 (decent work), and SDG10 (reduced inequality).
The conference brings together scholars from various disciplines, including law, political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, and public health, as well as practitioners, such as public administrators, civil servants and NGO workers, who work with SDG implementation globally. To enhance knowledge sharing, the conference will consist of both panel sessions and workshops in which researchers and practitioners share ideas, research and empirical insights on how to achieve the SDGs from the rule of law and welfare perspectives.
The conference is funded by The Faculty’s SDG Fund at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, and co-organized with the Centre for Social Development in Africa, University of Johannesburg, and the Access to Justice Europe Network.
