Your Library at Campus Odense

No physical access to SDU Library due to coronavirus

  • Loans & Returns: Borrowed materials can be kept until the library reopens. Materials placed on the pickup shelves can be collected a week after the library has opened again. You will not receive any recalls on the materials, and you will not get any fees while the library is closed.
  • Call or mail us: The library is available to students and staff on various digital platforms incl. mail, Skype and telephone. See Contact.
  • 24/7 online access: Access to the electronic journals, databases and ebooks that the library subscribes to remains. See Resources.

  • Library courses and events: All physical courses and events are cancelled until May 15th.. Online courses can be found here.

Manned service (no librarian guidance):  Saturday 10-14 (except 1/6-31/8).

Always: 24/7-access to the the library via student or employee card.

Note on Operating hours: Monday-Wednesday before Easter: 8.00-16.00. The last week before Christmas: 8.00-16.00. Working days between Christmas and the New Year: 8.00-16.00. The day of the University's annual celebration: 8.00-12.00. The library is not staffed on the following Saturdays: Easter Saturday, the Saturday after, Autumn holiday 8.00-16.00, St. Bededag (national holiday), if the Saturday is Constitution Day (5 June) or the day after (6 June), if the Saturday is the last Saturday before Christmas, and the Saturday between Christmas and the New Year.  The Library is not staffed on Constitution Day (5 June), Christmas Eve's day and New Year's Eve's day. If the first Saturday of the year is the 2 January, then the library is not staffed.
The only time the Library it is closed for 24/7 access is on the Friday or the university's annual celebration,, where the library is locked from noon until next day.

Campus library administrates the loan of books and journals not only from its own collections but also from all the collections of the University Library of Southern Denmark. The library also deals with requests for material from other libraries at home and abroad.

In addition to user guidance and the provision of literature, the library’s work includes the selection, acquisition, classification and cataloguing of books and journals. A publication exchange programme is maintained with other research institutions and the department for faculty library service provides a range of services for the university’s department libraries in Odense. Finally, the library is engaged in research.
