Taster Days at SDU 

Take part in the taster days and experience life as a student at SDU. Meet students and lecturers, find out about the degree programmes, and get answers to your questions about choosing a course.

The university taster days is for those in their final year of upper secondary school (3.g), second year of higher preparatory school (2.hf), and for those taking a gap year. 

You can take part in the university taster days at SDU in Sønderborg and Vejle. SDU also offers English programmes at our Campus in Odense, but unfortunatly Odense does not have international taster days.

However, you can ask our students if you have any questions about student or Academic life at SDU.

Registration for this year’s university taster course opens on 5 September. You can already create an account on studiepraktik.dk. Be aware that the information on the webpage studiepraktik.dk is in Danish.

 

Why take part in SDU Taster Days?

The taster days is your chance to try out a university degree programme before you choose your course. 

Among other things, you can: 

  • experience how teaching takes place 
  • meet students and lecturers 
  • gain an insight into everyday life at SDU 
  • explore the campus and the university town with current students 
  • gain a better understanding of your choice of degree programme 
  • meet student societies and experience the study environment first-hand. 

Special offers at SDU Taster Days

SDU offers free accommodation for those travelling from afar. You can stay for two nights from Tuesday to Thursday or one night from Wednesday to Thursday. You can book accommodation once you have confirmed your placement offer on studiepraktik.dk.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 21 October, you’ll have the chance to take part in a range of social activities. For example, you can go on a tour with SDU students, who’ll show you around the university town and give you useful tips on student accommodation, city life and much more.

You can only apply for taser days during a limited period, and it is important that you confirm your place when you receive an offer. If you do not confirm it within the deadline, you will lose your place.

You must create a profile on studiepraktik.dk to be able to apply for internship offers. Applications are open from 5–14 September

You can make changes to your application until the application round closes on 14 September. 

 

 

You must confirm your your offer for Taster Days at SDU between 22 September at 12.00 and 28 September at 23:59 on studiepraktik.dk.

Remember to confirm your work placement before the deadline to retain your place. If you do not confirm your placement during this period, you will lose it. 

Please be aware that there may be a delay on the website, as many people are logging in at the same time.

 

SDU Taster Days takes place on Wednesday and Thursday in week 43 at SDU. 

The application period is from 5 to 14 September. 


Accommodation

As a student trainee at SDU, you’ll be offered free accommodation. If you’re travelling a long way to SDU, you can book accommodation from Tuesday 20 October, or you can simply stay overnight between the two days of your work placement. 

Catering

You can only book accommodation once you have confirmed your placement offer on studytaster.dk. Accommodation places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. 

On the afternoon of Wednesday 21 October, you’ll have the chance to sign up for a range of social activities.

For example, you can join a guided tour with SDU students, who will show you around the university town and give you useful tips on activities, student accommodation, cafés and much more. 

You can sign up for these extra activities once you have confirmed your placement on studiepraktik.dk.

Often asked questions 

There will be Taster Days at SDU on 21 and 22 October 2026. 
 
Yes, you can apply for free accommodation during SDU Taster Days if you have been offered a study placement and accept it promptly after the first round of applications.

Registration for accommodation opens on 22 September 2026 at studiepraktik.dk, and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once you have accepted your study placement, you will be able to register for accommodation. There is a limited number of free accommodation places in hotels or hostels, so it is important to act quickly.

Yes, you can request to share a room with a specific fellow placement student during taster days, provided you have both registered for accommodation.

However, SDU cannot guarantee that your request will be met.

If you wish to share a room with someone else, you must send an email to studiepraktik@sdu.dk by 30 September 2026 at the latest. In the email, you must state both your full names, both your email addresses and the degree programmes you are each undertaking as part of the university taster course.

The same applies if there are three or four of you who wish to share a room. You will be notified by email prior to the university taster days during week 42.

If there are no more free accommodation places available for the Taster Days at SDU, please email studiepraktik@sdu.dk.

SDU does not have a waiting list for accommodation, but we can send you information on where to find accommodation at your own expense.

Free accommodation places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot therefore guarantee that further places will become available.
No, SDU does not cover travel expenses for SDU Taster Days. You must pay for your own train, bus, light rail or other transport to and from SDU.

It’s a good idea to plan your journey well in advance and look out for cheap tickets, such as Orange or Orange Fri tickets from DSB or bus tickets from Flixbus. Remember also to check when your induction at SDU begins. The start dates are listed in the placement descriptions on studiepraktik.dk
