New study identifies differences in injuries resulting from family violence and community violence
Family violence and community violence affect different groups and result in different types of injuries. A new study from the University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital is the first large-scale Danish hospital-based study to directly compare the two forms of violence and their consequences.

New study to investigate whether “TikTok brain” and “brain rot” can be measured in young people
With a grant of DKK 4.3 million from TrygFonden, researchers from the University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital will examine how fast-paced social media videos affect young people’s concentration, memory, stress levels and emotional responses.

A new international research project aims to improve the care and treatment of older people in Tanzania and strengthen capacity across the healthcare system. The project brings together researchers and healthcare professionals from Tanzania and Denmark and has received DKK 10 million in funding from Danida.

DKK 12 million grant for research into obesity and oestrogen-sensitive breast cancer
Excess body weight increases the risk of breast cancer after menopause. With a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, researchers from the University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital will now investigate why. In particular, they will examine whether the protein stanniocalcin-2 (STC2) – produced in adipose tissue – may in some cases slow down the disease.

Major international project aims to strengthen women’s mental health during menopause
Researchers from the University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital, among others, have received a DKK 36 million grant from Wellcome Trust to investigate why some women develop anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder during menopause – and whether hormone therapy can help prevent severe mental illness at this stage of life.
