The list of journals (N=13) below represents what the research team Management of People believes are our core journals. They represent the platforms where we intend to promote ourselves, and being evaluated by peer scholars from all over the globe. It is where we - to the widest extent possible - want to expose our research and make a distinctive difference. The journals are selected due to the following criteria:
- High quality in terms of reviewing processes.
- Relevant academic audience focusing on critical management/organization studies and our themes related to organizational communication, leadership and HRM.
- The intention to bridge research and practice.
Setting our goal by publishing in these journals is led by a double strategy: On the one hand it is a realistic goal for us to be in these journals, on the other hand it is ambitious and requires a more narrow and focused approach than hitherto practiced. Furthermore, the list is reflecting the broad perspective of the group – from covering a Danish journal, an open access non-profit journal to high-end FT50 journals like Organization Studies, Human Relations and Human Resource Management.
The list shall be considered as a guideline rather than a rigid, constraining and narrow-minded, exclusive tool. Members of MaP will (and shall) still publish in other journals and/or in books, and will still occasionally write in Danish. Selecting a journal is also an outcome of your network and collaborative settings. Also if you get rejected in the first round, the plan B does not necessarily include a journal on our list.
As a guideline you can start asking yourself prior to preparing your manuscript and/or a research grant application:
- How can my research be published and make it into these journals?
- Will collaboration with other MaP members make a positive difference? Shall I collaborate with internationally acknowledged scholars in order to succeed?
- Do I need a `theoretical contribution´ for this particular journal? Or does it prefer a thorough research literature review, lots of empirical data – or all of it?
