I am particularly interested in the relationship between teacher and student – especially in how teachers can support and scaffold the development of students’ learning strategies. In general, new students often need to learn what it means to be a student: how to engage with the subject and how to be recognized as someone who masters the academic field. This is something teachers need to consider when planning their teaching.

My support takes many forms. For example, I teach courses on motivation, which is based on participants’ investigations of their students’ experiences of what motivates and engages them. I also work with supervision – how to approach guiding students during teaching throughout the semester and in larger projects. Here, the supervisor needs to develop different strategies that can be adapted to the specific situation.

I also provide individual support when a teacher seeks feedback or inspiration for their teaching. This often happens in informal settings, where I might observe the teacher and then discuss the elements they want feedback on. These can be short or longer processes, tailored and agreed upon individually.
