Dorte Glintborg has been appointed clinical professor at OUH and SDU
Consultant, dr.med. and Ph.D. Dorte Glintborg has been appointed Clinical Professor of Gender-Affirming Hormone Treatment of Transgender Persons at the Department of Clinical Medicine, SDU and the Department of Endocrinology, OUH.
Dorte Glintborg's research focuses on the importance of sex hormones for somatic and mental health. With the appointment, Dorte Glintborg becomes head of research at the Center for Gender Identity Odense, which belongs to the Department of Endocrinology, OUH. The Centre for Gender Identity was established at OUH in 2020 as a highly specialised function with responsibility for clarification and treatment for transgender people.
Sex hormone therapy for transgender people is a relatively new treatment option, and through clinical and registry-based projects, Dorte Glintborg's research will ensure that the treatment options for transgender people continue to be individualised and improved.
Dorte Glintborg participates as a professional advisor for the Danish Health Authority and is co-author of several articles on sex hormone treatment for transgender people. Dorte Glintborg participates in local, national and international research collaborations on transgender people's health before and after sex hormone therapy.
Dorte Glintborg was educated at SDU, and graduated with a master's degree in 1999 with subsequent specialist training in endocrinology at the Region of Southern Denmark. Dorte Glintborg has been employed as a consultant at the Department of Endocrinology, OUH since 2012, and will continue as a consultant, combined with the clinical professorship. Dorte Glintborg received her Ph.D. in 2005 and dr. med. in 2015. Dorte Glintborg has published more than 150 scientific articles in international journals.
Dorte Glintborg is 52 years old and lives in Odense with her husband Morten and two children aged 10 and 13.
