Christina Anne Vinter has been appointed professor of obstetrics at the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark. The professorship has been established in collaboration with the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Steno Diabetes Center Odense at Odense University Hospital.

Her research focuses on pregnant women with gestational diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as overweight. The aim is to contribute to better health for both mother and child – in both the short and long term – through preventive initiatives before, during and after pregnancy.

Pregnancy acts as a “stress test” that can reveal a woman’s future risk of disease. This is why Christina Vinter collaborates with a range of local, national and international partners to develop targeted follow-up, prevention and treatment offers for women who have experienced a complicated pregnancy.

The professorship is anchored at the Department of Clinical Research at SDU and the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Odense University Hospital. Since 2018, Christina Anne Vinter has held a position as clinical associate professor at the Department of Clinical Research, SDU, with a 20% affiliation with Steno Diabetes Center Odense.

She continues in her role as head consultant at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, OUH, where she has been employed since 2017 and has served as head consultant since 2022.

The appointment takes effect on 1 October 2025.
