New project aims to improve skills and job matching across the Danish-German border
Professor Klarissa Lueg from the Faculty of Humanities and Professor Tariq Yousef from the Faculty of Science at SDU lead KOMPAS, a project funded through the Interreg Deutschland–Denmark programme. The project explores how artificial intelligence can be used to improve the matching of skills and job opportunities in the Danish-German border region.
Employers on both sides of the border face challenges in finding the right talent, while valuable skills, qualifications, and potential among workers and job seekers are not always recognised across national boundaries.
KOMPAS investigates how employees' professional skills, language proficiency, and cultural dimensions can be made more visible and relevant to employers in ways that are tailored to labour market and business contexts on both sides of the border.
As part of the project, researchers will develop and test an innovative AI-based approach to matching jobs and skills. The aim is to strengthen labour mobility in the border region while helping employers gain access to the competencies they need.
To achieve this, KOMPAS brings together partners from research, business, public employment institutions, and regional development organisations to jointly develop and test the concept in practice.
The project is conducted in collaboration with Tønder Business Council and CODIN IT. Network partners include the Danish-German Chamber of Commerce, the Sønderjylland–Schleswig Regional Office, Jackstädt Center Flensburg, AI Transfer Hub Schleswig-Holstein, and Jobcenter Flensburg, among others.
We welcome input from interested stakeholders.
The project has a total budget of €281,374.80, co-financed by the project partners. Interreg PKP contributes €182,893.62 in funding.
