Councils, boards and committees

• Academic Council

  As set out in the Danish University Act and SDU's statutes, the Academic Council must:

  • award PhD and doctoral degrees.
  • submit recommendations to the Rector, or to the person authorised by the Rector, on the composition of expert committees that assess applicants for academic positions.
  • provide statements to the Rector, or to the person authorised by the Rector, on the internal allocation of funding.
  • provide statements to the Rector, or to the person authorised by the Rector, on central strategic research and educational areas and plans for knowledge exchange.
  • provide statements on all academic matters of significant importance to the university's activities, and the Academic Council has a duty to discuss the academic matters that the Rector submits.

  In addition, the Academic Council discusses and advises the faculty management on matters relevant to the faculty's development, organisation, and finances.

   

• Gender Equality Committee

  The Gender Equality Committee works to ensure equal opportunities and conditions for the faculty's employees regardless of gender and to support the faculty's goal of creating a more balanced gender distribution among employees. 

  The overall visions for the equality work are to:

  • bring the full talent pool into play
  • ensure role models in research, teaching, knowledge exchange, and administration
  • ensure transparency, equal opportunities, and equal treatment for everyone both during recruitment, throughout employment, and in connection with career development
  • ensure a working environment with room for diversity

  The Gender Equality Committee operates across SDU Business School and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

  The committee's work takes place in close collaboration with the individual departments and units at the faculty, SDU’s Central Equality Committee, and SDU's Gender Equality Team, based on the university's overall Gender Equality Plan.

• Cooperation Committee

  The Cooperation Committee is the forum for discussions between management and employees about the faculty's development and future, including matters relating to the organisation of work, working conditions, personnel policy, and the faculty's financial situation.

  Objectives, strategies, competence development, and the link to personnel policy form the core of the Cooperation Committee's work.
