SDU climbs the prestigious QS rankings once again
The University of Southern Denmark has achieved its best-ever position in the QS World University Rankings. This year, SDU climbed 20 places to number 283, thereby strengthening its overall position in an increasingly competitive academic landscape.
QS has just published its annual QS World University Rankings 2027, which ranks the world’s universities, and the University of Southern Denmark is ranked 283rd among the world’s universities.
This places SDU among the top 20 per cent of universities and ahead of 81.3 per cent of the world’s other universities on this recognised ranking list.
The QS World University Rankings comprehensively assess a university’s international standing, with a particular focus on academic reputation, research quality, graduate employability and sustainability. It is widely used as one of several indicators of a university’s global reputation and research strength.
Strong rankings
Looking at the details of the QS rankings, three strong results stand out on this year’s list:
- SDU is ranked 107th globally for sustainability
- SDU is ranked 201st for the proportion of international researchers
- SDU is ranked 233rd for citations per researcher
In general, SDU has been experiencing a positive trend across international rankings in recent years, with increased recognition of the quality of its research, whilst strong research collaborations with the business sector provide a competitive advantage.
Strengthened position in citations and collaborations
In addition to its impressive ranking in the QS World University Rankings, SDU is ranked 197th by NTU, a purely bibliometric ranking that focuses solely on research publications and citations.
In the Times Higher Education rankings, SDU is ranked 107th globally in terms of the university’s research collaboration with business and industry.
Furthermore, SDU performs strongly in several research disciplines, such as Sport Science, where the ARWU ranks SDU as number 2 in the world, and in the QS Sustainability Rankings, SDU is ranked 25th globally for research into social and environmental sustainability.
