Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) at Hvidovre Hospital is one of Europe’s leading centers for biomedical MRI research. The center hosts an interdisciplinary and international research environment with approximately 75 researchers and in-house expertise in MR physics, preclinical research, motor control, neuroscience, brain stimulation, cohort studies, neurology, and neuropsychiatry.
In the Brain Maturation Research Group at DRCMR, we investigate brain maturation from infancy to young adulthood, with a focus on individual differences and both typical and atypical developmental trajectories. The group also examines how brain development supports developing cognitive, emotional, and motor functions, and how biological and environmental factors (e.g., genetics, hormones, stress, and lifestyle) influence development over time.
The research is conducted in longitudinal studies of both typically developing children and children at risk of neurological or psychiatric disorders. The findings contribute to understanding how brain development relates to mental health and support the early identification of children who may benefit from preventive or targeted interventions.
