Exemption from grade requirement or entry grade point average

Your eligibility for admission to a bachelor programme may depend on your grade point average (GPA) from your qualifying examination.

If exceptional circumstances relating to your qualifying examination have had a negative impact on your GPA, you can apply for an exemption.

It may be relevant to apply for exemption from multiple rules.

Who can apply for exemption?

In order for you to obtain an exemption, you must be able to claim exceptional circumstances for which you have supporting evidence.

Examples of unusual circumstances are:

  • Physical or mental disability
  • Accident with subsequent injury or permanent damage
  • Critical or chronic illness
  • Illness or death in your immediate family
  • Uncompensated dyslexia or acalculia

Which rules can you apply for exemption from?

Your GPA is relevant to several admission rules, and therefore it may be appropriate to apply for multiple exemptions.

You will receive a reply to your application via SDU’s self-service solution, optag.sdu.dk

Initially, you will only be told whether you can be granted the exemption(s) for which you have applied. If you are granted an exemption, your application will be considered on the same basis as other applications. This also means that an exemption does not guarantee admission.
