New project to ensure better integration of the energy market
The Danish energy market faces major changes and demands for improved integration between electricity supply, natural gas and district heating. A new project will explore the integrated energy system of the future from a market perspective.
Policy incentives and the public’s awareness concerning sustainable energy place demands on the entire energy sector to develop and use renewable energy sources to a much greater degree. This will bring about greater flexibility across different energy sources and, at the same time, phase out coal-fired central power plants.
A new research project will examine the integrated energy system of the future from a market perspective in order to ensure a smooth transition to the future energy system – and thus a significant proportion of renewable energy.
The project is funded with DKK 7.7 million from EUDP – Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program. The University of Southern Denmark’s share constitutes DKK 2.1 million.
The Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics at The University of Southern Denmark coordinates the project, which is carried out in collaboration with Aalborg University, Danish Gas Technology and Rambøll.
