Project description

Aim:
The project aims to investigate and promote knowledge about the latent structure of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dissociative PTSD (DPTSD), and Complex PTSD (CPTSD) following a wide range of traumatic experiences. These include various types of interpersonal violence (e.g. war, sexual assault, bank robbery, etc.).

The project will thereby contribute with knowledge to clarify diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic responses, monitor symptoms, and target research in prevention and treatment of posttraumatic stress symptoms.

Focus:

The project focuses on ASD, PTSD, DPTSD, ad CPTSD described in the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), respectively.

 

Persepctive:

The research is important in relation to aiding both clinicians and researchers working with posttraumatic symptoms, the relation between the diagnostic systems and the associated impact.
