Statistics professor of screening programmes
Sisse Helle Njor has been appointed professor of population-based cancer screening programmes at the Department of Regional Health Research, SDU and at Lillebaelt Hospital.
Sisse Helle Njor is currently doing research into the pros and cons of cancer screening and will continue to do so. The aim of her research is to find ways to optimise these screenings and/or reduce healthcare costs.
One of Sisse Helle Njor’s tasks will be to support patient-centred care. The goal is to improve cancer screening programmes so that, among other things, fewer patients experience false positives, and even more cases of cancer are detected at an early stage.
Sisse Helle Njor is currently collaborating with researchers from the United Kingdom, Norway, Spain, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, Brazil, USA, Greece and Belgium.
Sisse Helle Njor earned her MSc degree in Statistics and Computer Science from Aarhus University in 1994 and defended her PhD in Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in 2009. Although born in Roskilde, she has called Vejle home almost all her life.
