Software technological research and education centre

Centre for Industrial Software (CIS) placed at Campus Sønderborg is a front-running software research, education and innovation center, that educates the next generation of software engineers, conduct leading research, and supports companies in utilizing the potential in digitalization and artificial intelligence based on a strong research basis.

CIS is a part of the Technical Faculty and the Mærsk-McKinney Møller Institute. The agreement to establish CIS was signed December 1st, 2022, and the center has since been building up research and teaching capacity. The first students on the Software Engineering education started September 1st, 2023.

CIS has been established with donations from Bitten & Mads Clausens Fond, LINAK, and Sønderborg Kommune.

Research and education in close cooperation with industry

With excellent research, education, and industrial collaboration, it is the ambition that CIS will support and expand the leading positions the industry in the area possesses on the global markets. CIS will, together with CIE and CIM, attract talented students that can step into the companies after their graduation and help generate further growth for the companies, the area, and the region. The sustainable development the companies focus on will simultaneously be strengthened.

The unit together with the Software Engineering section in Odense and the Centre for Software Technology in Vejle form the software engineering units at SDU.
