Nicole Franziska Richter is SDU’s Teacher of the Year
The title of SDU Teacher of the Year 2025 is awarded to Professor Nicole Franziska Richter from the Department of Business and Management at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. The award is presented at SDU’s annual celebration.
Nicole Franziska Richter teaches in the MSc programme in International Business Strategy and International Market Analytics. She takes pride in fostering students’ critical thinking through workshops and discussions based on reflection.
Nicole Franziska Richter’s teaching is characterized by her high energy and extraordinary commitment to didactic innovation, where digital solutions, research, and practice go hand in hand. She is deeply dedicated to exploring new teaching methods and developing learning materials for the courses she teaches. She continuously renews and enhances quality using advanced analytical tools and technology.
Nicole designs advanced teaching formats, such as using curated YouTube playlists on research methods, a complete podcast series, and case-based role-playing exercises where students simulate strategic decision-making processes as consultants.
Student evaluations highlight her unique ability to support and deepen students’ understanding of academic content. One nomination states that she elevates students to a higher academic level.
Nicole is passionate about creating a learning environment that challenges students and pushes them out of their comfort zones. For example, she provides cases and guidance early in the semester to prepare students for a demanding exam format—one they later appreciate and are deeply grateful for after completing the course.
