The Danish Center of Psychotraumatology

Research project maps the prevalence of partner violence against pregnant women.

In a segment broadcast on DR1, Karen Andreasen, a midwife and researcher affiliated with the STOP project, stated that a study found that 8.5% of the pregnant women who completed the study’s questionnaire reported experiencing intimate partner violence.

Midwife and researcher Karen Andreasen, together with her team, collected questionnaires completed by pregnant women in the Region of Southern Denmark. Data collection took place from 2021 to 2022. The questionnaire screened for violence or conflict within intimate relationships, after which women who reported violence in their relationship were offered additional counselling.

The Danish Center of Psychotraumatology is actively involved in the projects I COPE and STOP-MINO. The I COPE project seeks to expand and improve the identification of violence against pregnant women, while the STOP-MINO project aims to identify violence against pregnant women from minority backgrounds. The project descriptions can be found here.
