SCOM5 - end of conference
The conference Strong Coupling with Organic Molecules was hosted by POLIMA at University of Southern Denmark from 16-19 June 2025.
From June 16–19, 2025, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) proudly hosted the fifth edition of the SCOM (Strong Coupling of Organic Molecules) conference. Organized by POLIMA, the event brought together 130 participants from 20 countries, creating a forum for scientific exchange, collaboration, and inspiration.
A Multidisciplinary Gathering
SCOM5 had selected a mixture of established world experts and emerging research leaders and young researchers. The program explored both theoretical and experimental advances within the following fields:
- Organic Chemistry
- Condensed-Matter Physics
- Nanophotonics
- Quantum Optics
- Materials Science
- Engineering
Program Highlights
The conference was structured in two parts:
16 June: A PhD Summer School featuring 5 lectures, offering early-career researchers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding and engage with leading experts.
17-19 June: The main conference program, which included:
- 2 keynote talks
- 17 invited talks
- 25 contributed talks
Keynote Speakers
Two distinguished keynote speakers headlined the event:
- Professor Thomas Ebbesen (University of Strasbourg) presented “Manipulating Matter by Strong Coupling to the Vacuum Electromagnetic Field”
- Professor Päivi Törmä (Aalto University, Finland) delivered a compelling talk titled “Strong Coupling and Topological Phenomena in Plasmonic Lattices”
