New Assistant Professor in Theoretical and Computational Physics

POLIMA is very happy to announce that P. André D. Gonçalves (André) will be joining our team as an Assistant Professor starting February 1st.

André’s research spans various areas within theoretical nanophotonics and condensed-matter theory, including the optoelectronic properties of 2D materials, strong-coupling nanophotonics, quantum-mechanical effects in the optical response of graphene–metal heterostructures, and quantum nonlocal corrections in plasmon-enhanced light–matter interactions.

I am thrilled to return to Denmark, where I completed my PhD

P. André D. Gonçalves, POLIMA

For the past four years, André was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the world-renowned ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, in Castelldefels (Barcelona), Spain. During this time, he not only consolidated his expertise in the areas mentioned above but also expanded his research to include topics such as free-electron–light interactions in ultrafast electron spectromicroscopies and electron–light–matter interactions in polariton-supporting nanostructures.

"I am looking forward to joining the POLIMA team as a newly appointed Assistant Professor. I am deeply enthusiastic about the prospect of engaging with POLIMA’s students, young researchers, and faculty, and exchanging experiences and scientific ideas. Additionally, I am thrilled to return to Denmark, where I completed my PhD (Technical University of Denmark, 2019) and made many friends. I look forward to beginning this new chapter." (P. André D. Gonçalves)
