In this presentation, Chunfang will introduce how SMEC is a inclusive part of STEM education research center-FNUG and core activities at SMEC that support and engage early-career researchers in creative STEM education research.

How does the rising need for STEM specialists shape the understanding of the purpose of school? Investigation in the context of Bildung.

The presentation reexamines the role of career and vocation within the theory of Bildung with implications for contemporary educational contexts. From this analysis, a set of principles is developed to guide curriculum-based professional orientation in STEM education in schools.

Presentation by Katrine von Bornemann Hjelmborg

Alignment in the University Mathematics Education.

Katrine introduces her PhD project and explores the alignment between lecturers and teaching assistants in university mathematics, considering both content and student perspectives. The study addresses this dual teaching structure within a largely traditional university context, where teaching assistants - often students or PhD candidates-carry a substantial share of instruction, and where is calling for changes in higher education.

Beauty Programming, Beauty in Science

Johan introduces his previous research experience and his PhD project plan, along with the ongoing activities he is conducting with participant groups in computer science education. He shares insights from these activities, where he explores emerging understandings of beauty in programming. The presentation indicates how this phd project can enrich views of science and computing as beautiful and meaningful practices.
