Advancing financial forecasting with quantum mathematics

Centre for Quantum Mathematics (QM) is collaborating with Jyske Bank and Qpurpose to apply advanced quantum mathematical methods to real-world financial market challenges. The collaboration focuses on improving short-term predictions for selected equity classes by combining cutting-edge mathematical theory with practical deployment in a financial trading environment.

Through the partnership, Qpurpose brings QM’s research into industrial application by deploying specialized software solutions supported by high‑performance computing (HPC) simulations, running daily on Jyske Bank’s trading desk. This setup enables continuous evaluation and optimization of predictive models under realistic market conditions.

At the heart of the collaboration is a novel quantum mathematical framework based on Gaussian Boson Sampling applied to Gaussian Weighted Integrals, developed at the Centre for Quantum Mathematics in collaboration with Shan Shan. This approach allows for efficient handling of complex probabilistic structures and optimization problems that are challenging to address using classical mathematical techniques alone.

The project demonstrates how quantum mathematics can already deliver tangible value today, well ahead of the widespread availability of large‑scale quantum computers. By bridging fundamental research and applied finance, QM ensures that theoretical advances translate into practical tools with immediate impact.

For Jyske Bank, the collaboration provides early access to quantum‑inspired methodologies and advanced predictive capabilities, strengthening preparedness for future developments in quantitative finance and quantum computing. For QM, the project exemplifies its mission to advance quantum mathematics through close collaboration with industry and to support the responsible and effective uptake of emerging quantum technologies.

This project was one of the 16 use cases in the Danish Authorities report (see page 44):
