Shriram Venkatraman is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Denmark and a Fellow of the Danish Institute for Advanced Study. Trained in digital anthropology, sociology, and statistics, he studies how digital infrastructures reorganize markets, organizations, and everyday economic life, particularly in the Global South. Combining economic sociology and anthropology with computational methods, his work develops new ways of understanding how culture, social relations, and technology shape economic coordination in practice.

His research is grounded in long-term fieldwork in India and extends across areas such as digital market infrastructures, platform economies, digital finance, entrepreneurial practices, and everyday economic life. By bringing ethnographic insight into dialogue with computational analysis, he examines how digital systems become embedded in everyday life and how they reconfigure economic relationships and forms of organization.

More broadly, his work contributes to interdisciplinary conversations at the intersection of economic sociology, economic anthropology, and the digital economy, with a focus on advancing theory and methods for studying contemporary market systems across diverse social and cultural contexts.
