Dr.-Ing. Redmond R. Shamshiri joined the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in November 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Robotics. Prior to this appointment, he served as Associate Professor of Agricultural Engineering at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany). He is the founder of Adaptive AgroTech, a research and consulting company specializing in digital and precision agriculture. He holds a Dr.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin (Germany), a Ph.D. in Automation in Agriculture from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and an M.Sc. in Biosystems Engineering from the University of Florida (USA). Between 2018 and 2024, Dr. Shamshiri was a Senior Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam, where he advanced research on autonomous navigation and collision avoidance for electric tractors, as well as wireless monitoring and control systems for smart farming applications.

At SDU, he will focus on developing robotic systems to manage intercropping fields that integrate cash crops and service crops for greater efficiency and sustainability. His ongoing research aims to create technological solutions for sustainable and intelligent agriculture through: Collaborative Robots (UGV + UAV), Digital Twin Systems, Swarm Robotics, IoT and 5G Connectivity, and Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications.

Dr. Shamshiri has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, edited 10 books, and received several international awards, including the Leverhulme Visiting Professor Award (UK), in recognition of his pioneering work in digital and precision agriculture. He has been consistently ranked among the top 1% of scientists worldwide for the past four years.
