Huatian Hu received his Ph.D. in Physics from Wuhan University in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Hongxing Xu, working on strong light–matter coupling in plasmonic nanocavities. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at Rice University in the Nanophotonics Group under the supervision of Prof. Peter Nordlander. In 2023, he became a postdoctoral researcher at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the Computational Nanoplasmonics Unit, working with Dr. Cristian Ciracì. In 2026, he joined POLIMA as a postdoctoral researcher, working with Prof. P. André D. Gonçalves.
His research focuses on computational and nonlinear nanoplasmonics, with particular emphasis on quantum hydrodynamic theory, free-electron nonlinearities, and heavily doped semiconductor platforms for integrated nonlinear optics. He has contributed to nonlocal nonlinear plasmonics, and chiral nanophotonics, combining advanced finite-element modeling with close experimental collaborations.
