From ICFO to POLIMA

Welcome to Eduardo Dias who started as postdoc in POLIMA 1 November

By Louise Skovborg Just, , 12/7/2023

Eduardo Dias completed his BSc in Physics (2014) and MSc in Fundamental Physics (2016) at the University of Minho, Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. Nuno Peres. During that time, his research focused on the theoretical description of graphene plasmonics, with special emphasis on the application of its wide tunability for proposing novel optical devices.

Between 2017 and 2022, Eduardo Dias was a PhD researcher at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Spain, working under the supervision of Prof. Javier García de Abajo. During this time, his research interests ranged in different areas of theoretical nanophotonics, such as plasmonics, thermal dynamics in materials, electron microscopy, and plasma physics. In addition, he collaborated on several experimental works, where he contributed both in their design and theoretical modeling. He got his PhD in Photonics in 2022 from the Polytechnical University of Catalonia (UPC) with the distinction "Excellent Cum Laude".

Since November 2023, Eduardo Dias has been a postdoctoral researcher at the POLIMA Center, at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), where his research focuses on combining nonlocal and thermal effects on the description of highly-confined polaritons in noble metals and 2D materials.
