Ekholm is the editor in chief of Acta Mathematica, a position he has held since 2018, and also member of the board of the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology, member the Royal Society of Sciences Uppsala, Editor of Algebraic and Geometric Topology and former president of the Swedish Mathematical Society.
Professor Ekholm has won muliple awards, with the latest being Rudbecksmedaljen, awarded by Uppsala University, along with a renewal of his status as a Wallenberg scholar.
