The increasing rate of individuals living with a high BMI is a cause of concern at both the individual as well as the societal level. Growing health care costs associated with obesity-related diseases will challenge an already strained health care system. Obesity is the most important risk factor for type 2 diabetes.
The purpose is to calculate and compare the development in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in three scenarios, representing different population-level forecasts of BMI development. Furthermore, the report will project and compare the health and societal burden of type 2 diabetes in the three BMI forecast scenarios.
