Research interests: health and inequalities in aging, social determinants of health, infectious diseases in global health.
Julia Callaway is an Assistant Professor at CPop, and Visiting Fellow of the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) for the 2025-2026 academic year. She is PI of the project “Challenges of Ageing Populations: Physical Functioning, Cognitive Functioning, and Health Economic Consequences,” funded by the ROCKWOOL Foundation, and also works on quantifying mortality inequalities in low- and middle-income countries. At CPop, she has contributed to projects on excess deaths due to COVID-19 and social implications of indexation of the pension age in Denmark. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Maryland.
