Open positions at DIAS

Join our community of playful research excellence!

The Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) seek to recruit 10 tenured Professors and up to 10 tenure track Fellows.

Each of SDU’s five faculties will welcome both Fellows and Professors, who will hold dual affiliations with DIAS and a faculty department, actively contributing to both. The positions are joint positions  and each candidate will thus have two affiliations—DIAS and the department—and is expected to contribute to both.

Use the tab function below to see all vacant positions across SDU's five faculties. Click on the job titles for job postings with detailed descriptions of each position.

DIAS Professors
The new DIAS professorships target scholars with internationally recognised research profiles and excellent publication records. With exceptional skills in mentoring, teaching, outreach, and community-building, DIAS professors will be leading figures whose presence, engagement, and contributions will significantly impact the University of Southern Denmark.  DIAS Professors will be integrated into DIAS’s community of distinguished Chairs.

DIAS Fellows
The coveted DIAS tenure track Fellow positions target early-career researchers with extraordinary potential and promising career trajectories. DIAS fellows are ambitious, innovative, and expansive-thinking scholars with international profiles and strong emerging records of research. In line with DIAS’s unique and ambitious research aims, DIAS Fellows, who are hired at the assistant professor level, have reduced teaching obligations compared to regular assistant professor positions at SDU. DIAS Fellows will be integrated into the Society of Fellows, a community by and for DIAS’s early-career researchers.

About DIAS

DIAS at SDU is a hub for interdisciplinary excellence at and beyond the frontier of knowledge, bringing together outstanding researchers from various disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research and innovation. DIAS encourages and supports curiosity-driven research and fosters the meeting of minds across disciplines and levels of seniority. The center cultivates an ambitious, open-minded and playful environment that nurtures both academic growth and a strong sense of community.  Candidates will be anticipated to contribute actively to DIAS, including but not limited to participation in DIAS activities, mentoring of DIAS fellows, and promotion of DIAS nationally, internationally and within SDU, as well as through strengthening the bonds between the department/faculty on one hand and DIAS on the other, through interdisciplinary collaborations where meaningful.
