The European Web Survey on Drugs 2024

The European Web Survey on Drugs (EWSD) is an anonymous online survey coordinated by the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA). It was conducted for the first time in 2017. In 2024, 35 European countries took part in the survey, and Denmark participated for the first time.

Purpose

The aim is to collect timely and detailed information directly from people who use drugs, in order to better understand patterns of use, emerging trends, and support evidence-based drug policy across Europe. The Danish part of the survey includes drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamine, benzodiazepines and other opioids.

Method

Data were primarily collected through social media sites, referring users to the web survey. Participation was anonymous and voluntary. The target group was adults (aged 18 years or above) using one or more of the drugs covered by the survey.

Project period

Data collection for the European Web Survey on Drugs took place during May and June 2024. The European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) was responsible for managing and preparing the dataset. The results from the 2024 wave have been published on the official EUDA website.
