Interdisciplinary efforts for public health

At the National Institute of Public Health, we currently have four centers that serve as interdisciplinary hubs for research and development. Our centers work to address large and complex issues, where multifaceted efforts based on multi-year grants are combined.

The centers combine knowledge, resources, and expertise from multiple disciplines and create a platform for collaboration between researchers, practitioners and policymakers to develop knowledge and implement initiatives that can improve public health.

In addition to advancing research, the centers actively work to translate and disseminate knowledge into practice. This happens, for example, through advising politicians and authorities, developing policy recommendations, or designing educational programs for health professionals – and it happens through dialogue with practice and various societal actors with the aim that effective initiatives should improve public health.
