Andreas Haagen Birch

Andreas Birch is Communications Officer at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS), where he works at the intersection of research, storytelling, and public engagement. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in American Studies from the University of Southern Denmark, with a strong academic foundation in culture, history and media.

Before joining DIAS, he worked for several years at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) as a cultural journalist, producing interviews, live radio, and podcasts, and regularly contributing as an expert commentator on U.S. politics, culture, and transatlantic relations. He later moved into working in the global robotics industry as Global Communications Specialist at Universal Robots and subsequently as Global PR & Communications Manager at OnRobot, where he worked with global PR, executive communication, thought leadership, and strategic storytelling in a highly technical, international setting.

At DIAS, he leads internal and external communication as well as branding, helping shape the institute’s voice across platforms and formats. He works closely with DIAS affiliates, offering strategic communications sparring and support to help researchers communicate their work clearly, confidently, and with impact - both within academia and beyond.
