NEW CHAIR

Aglae Pizzone makes history as DIAS's first Fellow promoted to Chair

Professor Pizzone first joined DIAS in 2017 as a Fellow of Humanities and has since contributed to DIAS through her many research projects and curious approach to finding common ground between disciplines.

We are beyond proud to announce Aglae Pizzone, Professor of Ancient and Medieval Greek, as our new DIAS Chair of Humanities!

Aglae Pizzone first joined DIAS in 2017 as a Fellow of Humanities and has since contributed to DIAS through her many research projects and curious approach to finding common ground between disciplines. She aims to leverage her experiences at DIAS to inspire and support the next generation of DIAS Fellows:

My years at DIAS have brought about a momentous change in the way I work, taking my research into directions that I would have never thought possible. It was a change nourished by input from and conversations with colleagues coming from fields often very far from my own, but all equally open and curious about others' research. As a Chair I hope to be able to channel that experience and to make it replicable for the future Fellows who will liven up the DIAS space, says Professor Pizzone.

Aglae Pizzone is Professor of Ancient and Medieval Greek at the Department of Culture and Language at Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark. She is a Byzantinist trained in the classics. In her research, which explores cultural history and the history of ideas, Professor Pizzone has worked on conceptualisations of fiction and imagination from Graeco-Roman to Medieval times as well as on the history of emotions in Byzantium and digital approaches to manuscript studies.

On behalf of the entire DIAS community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Aglae Pizzone on her new role as Chair and eagerly anticipate her continued contributions.
