The purpose of the focus area is to support the sustainable development of primary schools. We aim to generate knowledge on how effective initiatives are developed, implemented, function, and introduced in a sustainable way in primary schools. In our work, we strive to create a comprehensive theoretical model that can guide our hypothesis formation and empirical investigations, and contribute to a general theory on the implementation of Danish primary school initiatives.
We view implementation as a learning process that brings about changes in and of the existing primary school. Our goal is to identify, develop, test, and disseminate solutions that can improve children's well-being and learning in practice. Here, we work purposefully with a concept of evidence that encompasses and combines knowledge from the scientific community, as well as concrete experiences from primary school practice.
The focus area aligns with the Center for Primary School Research's understanding of primary school as a central framework for the development of a good life for children and youth. To support the center's vision, we work with school development from a sustainability perspective through a wide range of topics within the implementation area, both theoretically and practically, and in close collaboration with university colleges.
