Based on this, we focus on history, social studies, and religion/Christian studies in primary school as a research area that can strengthen collaboration between subject didactic researchers and practitioners across participating institutions – and together with other institutions, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Current focus topics include:
- National tests in history, social studies, and Christian studies
- Curriculum development
- Democratic and political education
- Education for sustainable development
- Concept learning
- The encounter with the past as a professional phenomenon
- Strengthening subject knowledge in the subjects
The collaboration in HiSaRe aims to investigate developments and trends in the subjects, and across the subjects, both currently and historically. We meet to develop the didactics of the subjects based on the didactic approaches and challenges of history, social studies, and religion. We contribute to the development of research projects within and across the subjects and participate in national and international collaborations and networks.
The focus area is based on a collaboration between Applied Research in Pedagogy and Society, UCL, HistorieLab, and the Center for Primary School Research, along with participants from UC SYD, University College Absalon, and the Institute for Teacher Education, NTNU.
