Dialogic Teaching and Orality

DiaMu

DiaMu aims to investigate and contribute to new practice-oriented knowledge about how dialogic teaching and oral practices are understood and practiced in primary schools.

We are concerned with:

  • Understandings of and forms of dialogic teaching
  • Orality and subject didactics
  • Dialogic perspectives on guidance, evaluation, feedback, and assessment of oral skills
  • Class discussions and group- and peer conversations
  • Pedagogical approaches to dialogic teaching
  • Listening

These points are further elaborated on the page Purpose of DiaMu.

Current Topics

Currently, the focus area is working on the practice-oriented research project Inclusive Dialogue (InDi) in close collaboration between researchers and educators at the university and teacher education levels. Schools are involved as practical training sites.

Ressources

The focus area is continuously working on publishing and otherwise communicating its knowledge. See Publications.

In addition, DiaMu also produces other resources to benefit research and teaching. One resource is the network site MoD, which stands for Orality and Dialogue. MoD is an overview of national and international research and development work in education on orality and listening, dialogue, and performances in education.
