It is new that you can study at SDU Vejle, but student life in the city is well established with many activities for young people, cosy areas, great cafés, and a lively atmosphere at all hours of the day and night.
In Vejle, you will feel the wings of the world in familiar surroundings, as SDU is home to talented students from all over the world, just as the rest of the city is also marked by the region’s major workplaces with many international employees.
International vibe
Vejle is truly an international city, and 12 % of the inhabitants have a different citizenship than Danish. The international community means that it will be easy to blend in, and you can get by easily even though you don't know a single Danish word yet.
Chances of securing both relevant student jobs and money jobs are good because of the many international companies in the region and the international vibe in the city.
In Vejle, you will settle in quickly and enjoy the mix of opportunity, quality of life and a city that’s easy to call home.
It is quite easy to find accommodation in Vejle, and the local student city guide is always ready to help, if you need it.
Housing comes in different variations, and the city is regularly building extra accommodation, so chances are good of finding one to suit your needs and wishes - regardless if you prefer a dormitory, shared housing, youth housing or private rentals.
Some student housing options offer common social activities to make it easier to make new friends and feel like a part of the local community.
The city of Vejle is centrally located in Denmark in a region where global giants like the LEGO Group, Siemens Gamesa, Danfoss and many more are driving innovation. These companies are not just neighbours to SDU. They are career opportunities for you. And SDU Vejle was actually founded together with a major global enterprise, the local municipality and the Danish government; the ties to the surrounding community are strong.
From day one, students at SDU Vejle will work on real-world cases and have direct access to internships and student jobs in small and large, local and international companies.
Live close to nature
Danish terrain is generally very flat, but Vejle offers a varied landscape and the (unofficially) steepest road in Denmark with a gradient of 25 % - here you can really put your biking skills to the test.
If you prefer mountain biking in nature, the area offers several trails in the surrounding forests, where you can also find scenic hiking trails or enjoy the tranquil solitude.
Surrounded by forests and with the sea and Vejle Fjord at the doorstep, you'll have plenty of opportunities for outdoor exercise and water sports alone or as part of one of the local sports clubs, which is also a good place to meet others who share your interests.
Life outside study
Student life is much more than studying, and Vejle offers a rich variety of activities, including sports clubs and the creative spaces in Spinderihallerne with open access for everybody. And if your are into history or arts, you will be pleased to know that almost all museums in Vejle are free of charge.
Come experience the vibrant city centre with great shopping, street food in Palads Passagen, international coffee houses and local cafés - many with student discounts.
Everywhere in the city you will feel the creative and entrepreneurial spirit which characterises both the local businesses and the city's activities and events.
