Rasmus W. Schmøkel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Digital Democracy Centre (DDC) and the Department of Political Science and Public Management at the University of Southern Denmark.
His research explores how algorithms shape citizens’ engagement with news and political information on social media, and how alternative, public service–oriented systems can strengthen democratic opportunity structures in the digital environment.
Rasmus combines computational methods and democratic theory to study and design recommender systems and AI that balance attention, diversity, and civic value. His broader goal is to develop algorithmic models that contribute to a healthier and more equitable digital public sphere.
