This two year Marie Curie Scholarship program addresses the conceptual and empirical gaps of news avoidance by examining how personalization relates to knowledge about contested and uncontested issues across distinct news avoider profiles. Using qualitative interviews, a panel survey, and an experiment with personalized news formats, the project will deliver practical recommendations to help media organizations reduce avoidance, improve reach and trust, and generate societal benefits in the European news ecosystem.
