Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen receives a royal Order
Director of the Centre for Quantum Mathematics at IMADA, Professor Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen has been designated Knight of the Order of Dannebrog by the Danish Queen. The Order of Dannebrog is a Royal Order of Chivalry given by the Danish Monarchy.
– It is a really big honour to receive this special Order from the Danish Monarchy and I am very proud to have been recommended for this by the SDU, he states.
On top of being centre director Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen holds a Chair at D-IAS and is the cPI on one of the most prestigious grants in Europe: the ERC Synergy Grant ”ReNewQuantum”. It is the first Synergy Grant the ERC has awarded within pure mathematics and theoretical physics in Europe. He has previously among other things been the Centre Director of a DNRF Centre of Excellence at Aarhus University (2009-2019).

Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen has a very active carrier in science and is the only Dane, who has both publications in a number of the world top-journals within pure mathematics, such as Annals of Mathematics, Inventiones Mathematica and Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians and at the same time also has published applied results in the world leading journals such as the Nature-journals.
He also has multiple record numbers in his CV. For instance he has obtained an astounding DKK 220 m in external research grants as well as mentored/supervised a total of 42 postdocs and 26 PhD students.
