Three new postdocs

In the beginning of 2021 three new postdocs join the Centre for Quantum Mathematics. The three postdocs will all be collaborating with QM Centre Director Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen. One of these collaborations will be interdisciplinary between QM and SDU Robotics, and one will be a part of the ERC Synergy project: ReNewQuantum

By Jane Jamshidi, , 12/18/2020

We are looking very much forward to welcome the three new postdocs who will join QM in the first months of 2021. A short presentation of the three postdocs:

Dr. Shan Shan is educated from Duke University, USA. Shan obtained her PhD degree in Mathematics in 2019 under the supervision of Ingrid Daubechies. Shan works in and between the fields of mathematics, statistics and biology. Her research interests are diffusion geometry, Bayesian inference, mathematical framework for machine learning and high dimensional data analysis. On the theory side she builds algorithms and probablistic models on geometric objects for dimension reduction, inference, regression and related machine learning problems. On the applied side she uses her work on anatomical surfaces to gain insights about evolutionary processes.

At SDU Shan Shan will make an interdisciplinary collaboration with Jørgen Ellegard Andersen on the mathematics side and Henrik Gordon Petersen from SDU Robotics.

The second postdoc, Dr. Nadia Ott, is educated from University of Minnesota, USA. Ott obtained her PhD degree in Mathematics in the spring of 2020 under the supervision of Alexander Voronov.

Ott’s research field is superstring perturbation theory – within mathematical physics. At SDU Nadia Ott will be working with Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen at the Centre for Quantum Mathematics.

The third postdoc, Dr. Konstantin Wernli, is educated from University of Zürich, Switzerland. Wernli obtained his PhD degree in Mathematics in 2019 under the supervision of Alberto Cattaneo. He currently holds a postdoctoral research associate position at University of Notre Dame in the group of Pavel Mnëv. He received one of the prestigious SNF Postdoc Mobility Research grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Konstantin Wernli’s research interests lie in mathematical physics, especially Quantum Field Theory and its applications. At SDU he will in a 3-year postdoctoral position be working with Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen on the EU-Horizon 2020 ERC Synergy project ReNewQuantum.
