Morten Sodemann is a trained medical doctor from Aarhus University (1989) and a specialist in infectious diseases. His PhD thesis in 1996 dealt with the treatment of serious infections among children in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. He is senior consultant in infectious diseases, Department of Infectious diseases at Odense University Hospital (OUH), Denmark, with a focus on malaria, diarrhea and other frequent infections and their influence on public health in Africa. 

He is also professor of global and migrant health at SDU and the director of the Migrant Health outpatient clinic at OUH, which he founded in 2008. He is vice chairman of the Danish Society for Migrant health and chairman of Globalhealthminders thinknet.

Morten Sodemann has broad experience as a teacher and research supervisor. He is involved in post doc training in cross disciplinary clinical skills and has established a migrant health curriculum at the medical school of SDU.
