New CDAI report

How widespread is the use of social media as news sources in Denmark? Which social media platforms are used as news sources? Who accesses news through social media? And how is the use of social media as news sources and attitudes towards fake news and disinformation connected?

These are some of the questions investigated in the second report from the 'Citizens, Digitalisation, and AI (CDAI)' project. Our interest in this topic stems from the fact that with the spread of social media, there has been a diversification in the media landscape, where people today are free to choose between public service media, commercial media, alternative media, and social media, all competing for users' attention. Additionally, our interest stems from the fact that the use of social media as news sources is associated with an increased risk of encountering fake news, disinformation, and content that is not journalistically quality-assured or fact-checked.
