Tumours arise when malignant cells escape our first line of defense: the immune system. In recent years, there has been a surge of promising treatment paradigms where reactivation of the immune system towards the carcinogenic cells have saved the lives of otherwise terminal patients.

As we are still far from understanding how immune cells interact with and eradicate cancer cells and since these treatments still comes with severe side effects, this area of cancer research is of outmost importance.
