Research Unit of General Practice

Research network focused on general practice, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML)

Vision:

We envision a future in which artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are integrated seamlessly into primary healthcare, transforming the way general practitioners deliver care and significantly enhancing the quality of life for their patients.
We aim to establish a collaborative platform that promotes innovation, facilitates cutting-edge research, and leads to transformative advancements in primary healthcare through the use of AI and ML technologies.

Mission:

Our mission is to establish a research network that brings together experts in primary healthcare, AI, and ML to collaborate, innovate, and conduct research to identify best practices and support the integration of these technologies into primary healthcare. We are committed to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, sharing knowledge and expertise, and driving positive change in the field of primary healthcare.

Strategy:

To achieve our mission, we have outlined two overall strategies.
  1. Firstly, we will leverage the expertise of our senior members to establish the overall network structure, engage with politicians, policymakers, and key stakeholders to secure support and resources, and ensure that the network's mission aligns with broader healthcare goals and legislative requirements.
  2. Secondly, we will promote cross-faculty research sharing and collaboration among junior members to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for the generation of original research. This will enable the exchange of innovative ideas and methodologies and strengthen the capacity of the network to drive impactful research and facilitate the adoption of AI-driven solutions in primary healthcare.

Goals:

  • Build an inclusive and diverse community of researchers and practitioners from various backgrounds, creating an environment that encourages open dialogue, mutual respect, and shared learning experiences.
  • Form strategic partnerships with industry leaders, academic institutions, and government agencies to expedite the development and implementation of AI-driven solutions in primary healthcare, ultimately benefiting patients and the healthcare system at large.
  • Develop advanced diagnostic and treatment tools utilizing AI and machine learning to support general practitioners in providing more accurate, personalized, and efficient care, thereby improving patient experiences and outcomes.
  • Leverage machine learning algorithms to analyze and interpret large volumes of health data, enabling a more profound understanding of disease patterns, risk factors, and potential interventions, which will contribute to evidence-based decision-making in primary healthcare.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among general practitioners by offering access to AI-driven educational resources, research findings, and best practices in healthcare.
  • Uphold the highest standards of patient privacy and ethical considerations while utilizing AI and health data, ensuring responsible and transparent technology use in primary healthcare.

Secondary objectives:

  • To obtain an overview over existing AI projects within health care across the faculties
