At the 2017 Annual Celebration of the University of Southern Denmark Vice-Chancellor Henrik Dam conferred an Honorary Doctor’s degree on Professor S. Tamer Cavusgil, Georgia State University, Atlanta, where he serves as Fuller E. Callaway Professorial Chair of International Business. It is a great honor and privilege for the Department of marketing & Management and for the International Business & Entrepreneurship unit that S. Tamer Cavusgil is now an Honorary Doctor at SDU and thus affiliated with our unit.

Over the past four decades, S. Tamer Cavusgil has been a hugely influential scholar in developing the fields of international business and international entrepreneurship. Professor S. Tamer Cavusgil has been the leading figure in the creation of scholarly infrastructure with a lasting impact. In addition to his much cited and influential academic work and many other contributions, he is the founding editor of the Journal of International Marketing and co-founder of the Consortium for International Marketing Research (CIMaR) which has spurred numerous cross-border research projects that have been published in highly recognized journals

Our International Business & Entrepreneurship unit is particularly grateful for Professor S. Tamer Cavusgil’s well-known efforts to assist and involve scholars from many countries. He invited our unit to participate in the founding meetings of the CIMaR and he invited us to participate in the Born Global research theme and thus bring this important research stream to Europe.
