The HRI-Lab Sønderborg contributes to the project by informing the design of robot appearance, movement, and touch and by developing a dialog system to ensure a positive patient experience and technology acceptance by healthcare professionals and patients alike.
To achieve this, we carry out ethnographic studies and co-design workshops to understand current practice, to co-create robot-related workflows and to understand different patient types. In controlled experiments, we will then iteratively develop robot movement, touch, and dialog to ensure trust, predictability and transparency and test the results on patients in real-life scenarios at the hospital.
